Transportation
We often joke in St. Louis that everything is twenty minutes away, yet that’s not far from the truth. So when you’re trying to get your family ready and out the door for school and work, twenty minutes can feel like precious time, and you may find that time crunch influencing your search for a secondary school for your children.
More than fifteen years ago, Whitfield recognized families’ busy schedules and began a shuttle service to assist students who live in the central corridor. This service may be even more helpful during the construction on Highway 40/I-64.
The 25-passenger van, which is owned and operated by Express Transportation Services, makes its first pick-up at 6:50 a.m. at New City School and arrives on our campus about 7:40 a.m., allowing plenty of time for students to get to their lockers and check in with their friends before school starts at 8:00 a.m. Intermediate stops typically include St. Michael’s, the old Clayton Famous-Barr (now Washington University’s West Campus), Lake Forest subdivision, Ladue Market and Sportsman’s Park.
The service runs twice in the afternoon. The first shuttle leaves shortly after school ends, and the second shuttle leaves at 5:45 p.m. to accommodate students’ after-school activities, whether group projects, athletic practices, teacher conferences, club meetings or just hanging out with friends.
The round trip costs $12 per day and one-way is $6.50. The amount is billed monthly to students’ accounts; families are charged a flat fee for mornings and by actual usage in the afternoons.
As always, Whitfield is committed to making its exceptional educational experience accessible, convenient and safe for all of its students and families. We hope you will consider the availability of this transportation as your family discusses the important decisions surrounding your secondary school search. We look forward to talking with you about this during your family interview and tour.
