Whitfield prides itself on academic excellence. Our curriculum is both demanding and developmentally appropriate. Designed by our own expert teachers, our courses are interesting and constantly evolving as we look for the best ways to prepare our students for entrance to the nation’s finest colleges and universities.
The School's intellectually-focused curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, reading, and writing across the academic disciplines, in addition to offering challenging fine and performing arts experiences. Central to Whitfield's mission is the belief that talented teachers, who are experts in both their disciplines and child development, create learning activities and classroom environments that actively engage students.
Our perfect size gives us the ability to engage each child and to impress upon them the importance of character. Our size allows us to make decisions with the students’ best interests in mind. Our goal is the success of every student, and we easily accommodate students who need accelerated work, particularly in math and language. Each spring, students, parents, faculty and alumni gather at Awards Day to celebrate the outstanding academics, athletics, character, community service and leadership provided by students and faculty alike.
